There is disclosed a method of operating an Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) node in a radio access network, the IAB node being connected to a first parent IAB node via a first backhaul link, the method including communicating with one or more child nodes based on a downlink timing, the downlink timing being based on a function of one or more values of a first timing parameter, the values of the first timing parameter being indicated by corresponding first timing indicators received from the first parent IAB node and/or one or more values of a second timing parameter, the values of the second timing parameter being indicated by corresponding second timing indicators received from the first parent IAB node.
