The electronic device may calculate estimated battery consumption for the vehicle to be driven to a destination, identify a current remaining capacity of the battery, and determine, based at least in part on the identified remaining capacity of the battery and the estimated battery consumption, whether to switch from a first communication mode (e.g., a fifth generation (5G) millimeter wave (mmWave)) in current use, to a second communication mode that consumes battery power at a different rate.
