The energy optimizer device comprises hardware sensor or capturing device for obtaining equipment data from energy equipment associated with a user. The electronic game may be executed with one or more applications and configured to render badge level associated with a user's use of energy equipment, tips of energy saving, enrollment options of a demand management program, recommendation for upgrading of energy equipment, virtual reality avatar representing renewable resources registered, and information about incentives/rebates. The energy optimizer device may communicate with other energy optimizer devices in a peer-to-peer manner and enable multiple users to play the electronic game together from respective energy optimizer devices.
