A system for generating and searching for labels in a document file including a computer-readable non-transitory storage medium including software stored thereon that is operable when executed to receive the document file, extract extracted text from text elements comprised by the document file, index the extracted text to produce a list of extracted labels, receive a request to open the document file, send the document file to be displayed, receive an area selection on an area of the document file, identify at least one selected label located within the area selection, locate matching labels from the list of extracted labels, and send each of the one or more matching labels for display. The system may further include a processor configured to execute the software and a communication device to perform sending and receiving functions.
