The method for user equipment (UE) of a mobile communication system and for determining a communication group of multiple UEs includes receiving information on radio access capabilities from candidate UEs of the communication group, determining one or more radio access technologies to use in the communication group based on the information on the radio access capabilities from the candidate UEs, determining participants of the communication group based on their radio access technologies, and forming the group based on communicating using the one or more radio technologies.
