A filter for filtering a fluid that is removed from a vacuum enclosure in an autoclave has a rigid housing comprising of a main body and a lid or cap. The rigid housing defines a filter interior, an inlet, and an outlet. The inlet and outlet arranged such that the fluid has to make at least one turn as the fluid flows in the filter interior. Filter media in the interior catches debris. The filter is constructed to withstand the high temperatures and pressures of imparted by an autoclave. A hose port connects the filter to the vacuum system of the autoclave.
