The method includes: reading a disc code from the disc; determining a write speed of the disc from the read disc code; and writing data to the disc. The writing is at the determined write speed and according to a write strategy when the write strategy for the lead-in area is determined to be present, and is according on a default write strategy when the write strategy for the lead-in area is determined not to be present.
