An imaging device includes an image sensor for producing an image data related an object image; an optical system for forming on the image sensor the object image in which a predetermined region having as center a position that is different from a center position of the image sensor is expanded and a peripheral region thereof is compressed with distortion; and a distortion correction circuit for correcting the compressed distortion with respect to image data related to the object image from the image sensor.
