On a surface of at least one of the first and second substrates in contact with the liquid crystal, a concave portion is formed in at least a portion of the pixel of a color having the highest relative luminosity among the pixels of the plurality of colors. Alternatively, on a surface of at least one of the first and second substrates in contact with the liquid crystal, a protrusion is formed corresponding to the contour of the pixel of a color having the highest relative luminosity among the pixels of the plurality of colors.
