The washing machine includes a steam generator (400) including a case forming a space for storing water to generate steam, and a drain pipe (450) connected to the case (410) for draining the stored water; a valve (451) installed on the drain pipe (450); and a controller for controlling the steam generator and the drain opening/closing part valve.
