The present disclosure relates to an improved process for the preparation of enantiomerically enriched alcohols of Formula (I), from the corresponding ketone of Formula (II), by asymmetric transfer hydrogenation, using a hydrogen donor, catalyzed by a ruthenium or rhodium complex of an optically active N-sulfamoyl-1,2-diamine.
