Specific information in the root certificate data is extracted from the update firmware, and the extracted specific information is used to update a management table of the root certificate provided in a RAM. With this configuration, it is possible for an information processing apparatus to reliably acquire and update the root certificate data without greatly changing the original functional configuration.
