The first lens unit is formed by two lenses, and the third lens unit is formed by one lens. A lateral magnification of the second lens unit at a wide angle end, a focal length of the first lens unit, a focal length of the third lens unit, a focal length of the entire zoom lens at the wide angle end, and a moving amount of the first lens unit along the optical axis from the wide angle end to a telephoto end are set appropriately based on predetermined conditional expressions.
