The identification information reader reads the document identification information assigned to the document. The determination section determines, based on a reading result by the identification information reader, as to whether or not the document identification information is assigned to the document. The document reader reads the document to acquire an image of the document if the document meets a predetermined read condition. The document reader reads the document to acquire the image of the document if no document identification information is assigned to the document.
