The article has an elastic element attached to the liquid-permeable surface layer along at least parts of the longitudinal side edges of the article. The elastic element is attached to the liquid-permeable surface layer along longitudinal edges lying opposite one another of the elastic element. A cut is arranged between the attachments in the form of a slit or cutout. The cut extends through a front edge of the elastic element in the direction of a rear edge, the elastic element being provided by the cut with inner edges arranged above the liquid-permeable surface layer, and a method for manufacturing such an article.
