The lens apparatus transfers to a retracted state by moving the first lens holding member to a retracted position via the actuator from an image picking-up state. The lens apparatus further includes a stopper configured to move in a direction different from the optical axis direction between a first position at which the stopper restricts a movement of the first lens holding member and a second position off the first position, and a driving member configured to move the stopper from the second position to the first position relative to the first lens holding member that has moved to the retreated position.
