The sublayer may isolate feces away from the skin and at the same time provide liquid acquisition. Certain regions of the sublayer may have a total open area of from 10% to 50% of the total surface area of the sublayer. The holes have an average smallest dimension of at least 3 mm. The sublayer has an average caliper of from 2 mm to 6, and an average caliper loss after wetting and under pressure of 0.3 psi of less than 20%.
