The recording apparatus includes a determination section that determines, when the optical disc is inserted, whether or not the recording condition information has been copied and recorded in the data recording area, a reading section that reads the recording condition information from the low recording-density area when the recording condition information has not been copied or recorded in the data recording area, and a recording section that copies and records the recording condition information read from the low recording-density area to a copy area in the data recording area while the optical disc is inserted.
