In one embodiment, a method includes receiving an identification of an optical network element, including network address information of the optical network element; receiving an identification of one or more optical network traffic generators, including access information of the optical network generators; and automatically accessing the identified optical network element, and one or more traffic generators in connection with execution of one or more tests on the optical network element.
