Abstract:
A process for generating energy comprises process comprises exothermically reacting Mg with SiO2 to yield at least Mg2Si and Si; b)reacting the Mg2Si to yield at least lower silanes, and at least one magnesium product; c) generating at least higher silanes from at least a portion of the lower silanes; d) combusting the higher silanes and the Si to yield at least one silicon product.
