The plates extend generally parallel to the longitudinal direction of the body for receiving between them an aligned element of a powered sanding apparatus, which aligned element is a hollow shaft or a rib of a motor unit of the apparatus. Means (29,155) is included by which the plates may be rigidly fastened to the aligned element. A tubular or rod like component is receivable into the elongate body, and means (23,165) is provided by which the tubular or rod like component may be fastened to the attachment component while it is received in the elongate body.
