An exemplary assembly includes a turbocharger center housing with a bore; a turbocharger bearing with an annular groove having a diameter; and a substantially planar spring, seated at least partially in the annular groove for positioning the turbocharger bearing in the bore of the housing, where the spring includes a first end and a second end, a free standing inner diameter, a plurality of straight sections tangent to the free standing inner diameter and disposed between the first end and the second end and a curved section disposed between two of the straight sections where the spring balances an inward radial bias with an outward radial bias to reduce contact between the bearing and the housing and variation in a squeeze film thickness.
