The information processing apparatus has a facsimile function of transmitting data to an external apparatus and is capable of communicating with a terminal through a network. The information processing apparatus includes a storage unit which stores data; a detection unit which detects whether the data stored in the storage unit has a specific format; a transmission data generation unit which is configured to generate transmission data to be transmitted to an external apparatus based on the data; and a transmission unit which is configured to transmit the transmission data to the external apparatus using the facsimile function.
