The method includes receiving, at a workload manager, energy consumption information. The method further includes receiving workload information about a second data center that is remote from a first data center, and receiving, as controlled by the workload manager, at the first data center at least a portion of workload associated with the second data center based on at least one of the energy consumption information and the workload information.
