The separator in which the flow is conducted using separation elements from an inflow to an outflow in such a manner that at reversal points media separators deposit a separation medium. Depending on the flow through them and the orientation with respect to the acceleration due to gravity, individually shaped separating elements are arranged in such a manner that at least two different paths of the flow along the separating elements in the separator form.
