Each pixel includes a driver, a capacitor between a gate and a source of the driver, a luminescent element connected to the source, and first and second switches. The first switch is between a data line and a first electrode of the capacitor. The second switch is between a power line and a second electrode of the capacitor. A drive circuit provides a bias voltage to a back gate electrode of the driver so that an absolute value of a threshold voltage of the driver is greater than a gate-source voltage of the driver to place the driver in a non-conducting state, and provides a signal voltage to the first electrode of the capacitor and sets a reference voltage to the second electrode of the capacitor.
