The secondary battery includes an electrode assembly including a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate, and a separator interposed therebetween, a sealing tape surrounding a circumferential surface of the electrode assembly, a can housing the electrode assembly, and a cap assembly sealing the can. The sealing tape is formed of a heat-shrinkable material. The can is heated at a predetermined after the electrode assembly and the sealing tape are sealed in the can, to shrink the sealing tape.
