Embodiments of the invention related to a method for encapsulating phone numbers preferably using a token based framework and routing calls between users using such a token based framework, where the method comprises generating a set of tokens by a service provider for a phone number provided by the service provider, wherein the set of tokens comprise a generic token and a privacy token, the generic token maintained by the service provider and the privacy token distributed to a first user.
