The electrochemical cell is arranged outside an engine compartment of the motor vehicle in an accommodation compartment of the motor vehicle, the cross-sectional surface of which is tapered in the direction of the vertical axis of the vehicle. A cross-sectional surface of the electrochemical cell is thereby adapted to the cross-sectional surface of the accommodation compartment. Thus, particularly good use is made of the available space in the motor vehicle.
