The portable terminal includes a first housing, a second housing coupled to the first housing to face the first housing, the second housing being linearly movable to expose or cover a part of the first housing, a rear case coupled to a rear face of the second housing, an opening formed through the rear case, and a slide module comprising a guide member mounted on the first housing, and a slide member coupled to and linearly movable with respect to the guide member, the slide member being coupled to the opening to close the rear face of the second housing. With the slide-type portable terminal, since the opening, in which the slide member can be mounted regardless of the external appearance of the terminal, is formed through the rear case in the opening so that the first and second housings can be slidably coupled to one another, the manufacturing cost of the portable terminal can be reduced.
