The first field lens and the second field lens are disposed between the light valve and the projection lens and in the transmission paths of the illumination light beam and the image light beam. The first field lens is a positive meniscus lens with a first concave surface facing the projection lens. The second field lens is a positive meniscus lens with a second concave surface adjacent to the first field lens. The projection apparatus is capable of reducing a ghost image.
