The camshaft is arranged in the internal combustion engine in a rotatably mounted manner by camshaft bearings. The interior of the camshaft has a cavity. Bores are formed on the camshaft in the region of the camshaft bearings and, via the bores, the cavity communicates with the camshaft bearings. The volume accumulator is arranged in the cavity and has a housing which extends in a region of at least one camshaft bearing.
