The invention provides for a user to define website preferences that will be applied universally across multiple websites. The user preferences may be inputted and stored at a universal user preference website or the like. Such user preferences may include a preferred language, a preferred location, preferred billing information, preferred authentication credentials and the like. Through the use of tag parameters, the user preferences may be retrieved and applied at the onset of a user website session, such that the preferences become active when the user initiates website communication.
