The trip progress bar including one more bar segments corresponding to one or more of the route segments, and each of the bar segments of the trip progress bar having a display characteristic indicative of the route type for the corresponding route segment such that a user can graphically identify a route segment type corresponding to each of the displayed bar segments of the trip progress bar.
