The first substrate has peripheral circuit wires formed in a peripheral area surrounding a display area, and the second substrate is disposed to face the first substrate so that the peripheral circuit wires of the first substrate are exposed. A resin layer having a predetermined width is formed on that end part of the second substrate on the side of facing the first substrate which is located on the side of the peripheral circuit wires of the first substrate.
