The portable electronic apparatus includes a display section, an operating section, a setting section which switches and sets, based on an operation to the operating section, a pseudo power-off mode in which electric power is not supplied to the display section and a crime prevention function is enabled and a power-on mode in which the electric power is supplied to the display section and entire functions including the crime prevention function are enabled, and a control section which switches the pseudo power-off mode into the power-on mode when the crime prevention function is used in a state where the pseudo power-off mode is set by the setting section.
