An engine system includes a plurality of turbochargers each including a compressor outlet fluidly connected to an intake manifold of an engine. A plurality of intake conduits are configured to each convey incoming combustion air to one of the turbochargers, and each includes a casing, and a duct within the casing having a surge inhibitor mounted thereon which includes a flow-directing surface oriented obliquely to an axis of the duct to direct combustion air leaked back out of the compressor inlet away from a discharging stream of combustion air exiting the duct.
