A loose parts collector having a water overflow edge is disposed between a feedwater inlet and a tube bundle of the steam generator. A sludge collector having a water outlet that is disposed downstream of the overflow edge of the loose parts collector and maintains a pressure differential between a water inlet of the sludge collector and the water outlet.
