Methods and apparatus are provided for networking between the farm management system (farm master) and individual wind turbines (WKA) of a wind farm via a central network for the purpose of data transmission in both directions. The central network may be configured as a ring, star, line, or tree having a physical layer which communicates with a data link layer which is in communication with a wind farm protocol (WPP) application layer through a WPP real-time driver.
