A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a gateway comprising a controller to transport media data between a service provider network and one or more end user devices associated with the gateway, and transmit connection signals to a second gateway for establishing communications between the service provider network and the gateway and for establishing a plurality of queues at the second gateway, where the queues are dedicated to each of femtocell, internet and VoIP services associated with the gateway.
