A wall thickness of the tubular workpiece is reduced and the tubular workpiece is lengthened, as spinning mandrel use is made of a universal spinning mandrel with different external diameters in the axial direction for producing cylindrical and/or conical and/or cambered hollow parts of different design. during forming the forming roller and the spinning mandrel are moved relatively in the axial direction with respect to the workpiece, and, for the purpose of designing varying diameters and/or wall thicknesses of the workpiece, the forming roller is moved relatively in the axial direction with respect to the spinning mandrel.
