The sheet retention device comprises a sheet supporting unit for supporting at least a first portion of the sheet, a rotatable guiding unit configured to enclose a second portion of the sheet, an urging unit and a drive unit for in operation controllably rotating the rotatable guiding unit. The rotatable guiding unit comprises a passageway arranged through the rotatable guiding unit, which passageway is configured to enclose the second portion of the sheet, the passageway having an entrance portion at one side of an outer surface of the rotatable guiding unit and an exit portion at another side of an outer surface of the rotatable guiding unit. The exit portion is arranged in the passageway at an opposite end with respect to the entrance portion.
