The information processing apparatus includes a converting unit that converts, when the value to be kept secret is an initial value written at the time of initialization of a storage device in which a value encrypted by the encrypting unit is stored, the value encrypted by the encrypting unit into a value which is reversibly convertible and is independent of the cipher key used by the encrypting unit. The information processing apparatus includes a storing unit that stores the value converted by the converting unit in the storage device.
