Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for implementing a cooperative model between an application and a database. In one aspect, there is provided a computer-implemented method. The method may include receiving from an application a command to perform an operation at a database; accessing metadata representative of the application; configuring, based on at least the metadata, a result of the operation; and sending the configured result to shared memory accessible by the application.
