The device contains two chambers of which the first chamber contains the solid component and is separated from a second chamber that contains the liquid component by means of a separation that can be opened. A mixing facility that can be driven by means of a pressure difference is arranged in the first chamber. In the present storage and mixing system, a vacuum that is available in the operating theatre is used to mix a monomer liquid and a bone cement powder in a vacuum and to operate a mixing facility simultaneously. Moreover, the vacuum can also be used to open a separation between monomer liquid and mixing space and to transfer the monomer liquid into the mixing space.
