Selection signals are also supplied sequentially to scanning lines in at least two successive subframe periods including a frame period for performing an erase scan to write erase data to the plurality of data lines into pixel circuits in a second interval of the selection period. There is an overlapping period between two erase scan periods in the at least two successive subframe periods. During the overlapping periods, selection signals for performing the display scan and erase scan are supplied simultaneously to the scanning lines.
