The embodiments further receive a request, from the user, to perform a transaction with a merchant; generate a virtual check comprising a checking account number, a bank routing number, and a date; initiate display of the virtual check on a display of the mobile device; receive input from the user corresponding to at least one of a plurality of check fields; and populate the virtual check based on the received input.
