An electrophotographic photosensitive member includes a support and a charge generating layer and a charge transporting layer formed on the support. The charge generating layer contains an amine compound represented by the following formula (1); where R1 to R5 represent a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, hydroxy group, carboxyl group, alkoxycarbonyl group, aryloxycarbonyl group, alkyl group, alkoxy group, aryloxy group, amino group having a substituent group, or cyclic amino group; and at least one of R1 to R5 is an amino group substituted with an aryl group, amino group substituted with an alkyl group, or cyclic amino group.
