The liquid crystal display apparatus includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, sub-pixels and an array of cylindrical lenses. Each sub-pixel includes an opening section or sections whose total length taken along the first direction at each of positions ranging in the second direction is constant. In each row of the sub-pixels, the opening sections are arranged such that moving average values of positions of a center of gravity of the opening sections fluctuate within a predetermined range, where the moving average values are calculated by obtaining positions of the center of gravity of the opening sections taken along the first direction at plural positions ranging in the second direction and by averaging the obtained positions within a spot width of the cylindrical lenses for each of the positions ranging in the second direction.
