In the recording portion, the maximum recordable size of a paper sheet is greater than a size of a document reading area in the scanner unit. At a base end side of a cover, which opens and closes the document reading area, a gap is formed which passes the document to an outer side of the scanner unit when the document is pushed out from the document reading area.
